Episode 27
Lizzie Carr - Paddle Board Adventures and Patrolling For Plastic
Recorded during lockdown and (seemingly) from inside a tin box, Simon chats to Lizzie Carr about how a major life event combined with SUP, fundamentally changed the direction of her life.
Lizzie’s SUP adventures started with a paddle through England’s waterways covering 643 KM of canals and recording the pollution and litter on the way. She followed this with the first female solo crossing of the channel and the first paddleboard journey down the Hudson River ending in New York City.
She is the CEO and founder of @plasticpatrol an organisation devoted not only to clearing up aquatic litter but also logging these items in order to leverage governments and brands to improve their environmental performance.
Lizzie’s book which we discuss in the episode is available here
